Bodily Injury Crashes in Winsted and Lexington Townships on January 31, 2018

Semitrailer Collides with Jeep in Winsted Township, McLeod County

A Freightliner semitrailer was traveling northbound on Babcock Avenue in Winsted Township when it attempted to go across Highway 7. At the same time, a Jeep was traveling westbound on Hwy 7. The Freightliner and Jeep collided at the intersection, according to the MSP. They then struck a Kia that was stopped on Babcock Avenue. There is a stop sign on Babcock at the Hwy. 7 intersection, which suggests that the Jeep had the right-of-way. The time of the crash was about 6:30 a.m.

The driver of the Jeep, Jordan Jon Weeks, of Delano, MN, was injured and transported to the hospital.

The occupants of the Kia were reported as not sustaining any injuries; however, there may be soft tissue damage, including whiplash, that has not surfaced yet. The occupants of the Kia included the following: Jeffrey Paul Johnson, of Buffalo, MN (driver); Anna Laura Meredith, of Howard Lake, MN (passenger); and Nolan Isaac Nevala, of Cokato, MN (passenger). The semi truck driver was not injured.

Van Rear Ends Car in Lexington Township, Le Sueur County

Highway 99 at Le Sueur County Road 5, Lexington Twp, Le Sueur County 17:17

A Pontiac Grand Prix car was traveling eastbound on Highway 99 in Lexington Township when it stopped to wait for break in westbound traffic in order to turn left onto County Road 5. The car was rear-ended by a Chevrolet Express van pulling an empty flatbed trailer, according to the MSP. The driver of the Pontiac, Regan Elizabeth Schatz, of Le Center, MN, was injured and transported by ambulance to a nearby hospital. Her airbag did not deploy.

The Le Sueur County Sheriff’s Office and the Le Center Police Department assisted at the scene.
