Mogo Moringa Capsules Salmonella Outbreak
Health officials say the true number of people sickened in this outbreak is much larger than the total reported because some people with Salmonella infections recover without medical care. The people who did seek medical care for illnesses associated with this outbreak range in age from 1 to 93 years old and reported the onset of symptoms from February 3, 2026, to May 1, 2026.
Using information from PulseNet, the national database of DNA fingerprints of bacteria that have caused a foodborne illness, investigators from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) spotted a cluster of matching fingerprints indicating an outbreak caused by the same contaminated food source.
During interviews with health officials, about 75 percent of the outbreak patients said they had taken some Mogo moringa capsules before they became ill. May 25, 2026, Mogo Moringa issued a voluntary recall for two lots of Moringa Oleifera Capsules.
The 14 states reporting illnesses in this outbreak are: California, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, North Carolina, North Dakota, Oregon, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Washington.
