At the time of the crash, the school bus was returning from a cross-country meet in Jordan. A student on the bus sent WCCO-TV cellphone video of the crash. Two students, Samuel Colvin (14) and Graham O’Neill (12) were slightly injured. The school bus driver, Robert Streich (78) of Hutchinson, was not injured.

Follestad was taken to Hennepin County Medical Center with life-threatening injuries where she died Wednesday morning. Her mother told local news media that “she was an absolute vibrant young lady.” Follestad is survived by four siblings. Her father died in a motorcycle crash about two years ago.
