A propane explosion and fire at a home on East Sand Pond Road in Limington, Maine, seriously burned the homeowner on Sunday morning, September 27.
The homeowner’s son, who lives across the street, heard the explosion, helped his father to safety and used a fire extinguisher to put out the flames before emergency crews arrived, according to the Bangor Daily News.
The Maine State Fire Marshal’s Office says the explosion occurred after a malfunction involving a propane fuel line while the homeowner was trying to light another heat source inside the residence. The Maine Fuel Board is assisting with the investigation, which remains ongoing.
