Minnesota Man Fatally Struck by Semi While Changing Tire

A Minnesota man was fatally struck by a semi-truck while changing a flat tire near Sisseton last week. Shortly before 1:00 P.M. last Tuesday, Gerald Bartell (78) of Herman stopped his pick-up truck on the shoulder of I-29 to change a flat tire when he was struck and killed by a Freightliner semi-truck. Bartell died at the scene. The semi driver, Wilhelm Hiebert (55) from Manitoba was not injured in the crash. Charges are pending.
