A 69-year-old man died in a head-on car crash on Highway 169 in northern Minnesota over the weekend. The Minnesota State Patrol says the crash happened shortly after 5:00 A.M. on Sunday near Greenway Township. A Ford Explorer, driven by Matthew Kirkpatrick (38) of Keewatin, was heading East on 169 when it crossed the centerline and collided with a Dodge Ram. The driver of the Dodge Ram, Larry Meyer (69) of Hibbing, was taken to a hospital in Grand Rapids where he later died. Kirkpatrick was taken to a hospital in Duluth for treatment of life-threatening injuries. Investigators say that they believe impaired driving was a factor in the crash.
