Two Critically Injured After Semi Crash on US-23 in Washtenaw County

Two people are in critical condition after a semi-truck crash on northbound US-23 between N. Territorial Rd. and 6 Mile Rd. in Northfield Township, MI. Rescue crews were called to the scene shortly after 10:00 AM on Wednesday. Michigan State Police say the crash started when the semi collided with a northbound car. The impact of the crash caused the semi to go through the guard rail, striking a southbound pickup truck. The pickup driver was airlifted to Michigan Medicine where she is in critical condition and requires surgery. The first driver was taken to the hospital by ambulance and is stable. Police told WXYZ 7 Action News that the semi driver admitted to falling asleep at the wheel. He was not injured.
