Five people were injured in a gas explosion in Santa Fe, TX around 6 p.m.last night. The five-member crew from Dayton Pipeline, working on contract for CenterPoint Energy, was working on a line near Avenue M and 24th Street when the blast occurred. A fire then broke out sending a column of flames 15 to 20 feet shot into the air.

Two of the men were airlifted to an area hospital for treatment of serious burns and other explosion injuries. Three others were transported by ambulance to the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston.
