Workplace Explosion Injures Aerospace Employees in Washington

A workplace explosion at Zodiac Aerospace in Newport, Washington, is under investigation following injuries to five employees. While on the job at Zodiac’s Advanced Composite and Engineered Materials facility, the crisis unfolded on July 14. Ten days later, one of the injured workers was still hospitalized. The trauma prompted the company to deploy a crisis/counselling team available to all employees of the Newport facility, where airplane interiors are made. “The investigation to determine the cause of the explosion is on-going to establish the circumstances and determine root cause,” the company said in a recent statement.

Federal investigators are involved in the probe and injured workers have the right to contact an explosion lawyer for their own independent review of factors and liability in the accident. In the meantime, Zodiac Aerospace announced that building structural experts will examine the facility and complete any reinforcements to make it safe for others to return to work. The blast in this case was powerful enough to cause a partial roof collapse.

According to an official statement from the company,  it is established that the explosion occurred around 9 p.m. (Pacific Standard Time) in the workshop of prepreg fabrics, used to make composite panels for cabin interiors. At the time of the explosion, 20 workers out of 104 were in the facility, the company said. News reports said the explosion also shattered glass and sent debris flying.

The Newport facility is a supplier to Boeing and part a large French company with more than $4.5 billion in annual sales. If you or someone you love was injured in the Zodiac interiors explosion, you have every right to bring an explosion lawsuit, or at least retain independent counsel to evaluate whether this company is living up to its responsibility to compensate you for your injuries and the danger you faced while at work.  Lawyers at our law firm have recovered tens of millions of dollars for injured workers and victims of explosions.
