Pritzker Hageman’s Legionnaires’ disease lawyers have filed a lawsuit (Case Number A-26-939593-C) against two Las Vegas casino hotels: the Grandview and South Point Hotel Casino & Spa. When Legionella bacteria is found in a building’s water system, guests can be exposed through aerosolized water (tiny droplets or mist from showers, faucets, hot tubs, or other water features) leading to Legionnaires’ disease, a serious form of pneumonia.
The lawsuit arises from the wrongful death of a guest who contracted Legionnaires’ disease after staying at both properties in 2023. More recently, the Southern Nevada Health District (SNHD) has issued public updates regarding separate Legionnaires’ disease investigations involving the two properties, suggesting Legionella proliferation at these properties is a longstanding issue that was not properly remedied when warning signs first appeared.
If you or a loved one developed pneumonia-like symptoms after staying at The Grandview or South Point, it’s important to understand the risks, the symptoms, and what to do next. Our firm has decades of experience representing Legionnaires’ disease victims nationwide, and we also have a Las Vegas office led by attorney Raymond Trueblood, who is part of our national Legionnaires’ disease team, helping Nevada residents and visitors.
Two Las Vegas casino hotels. Two separate Legionnaires’ disease investigations.
The Southern Nevada Health District (SNHD) has issued public updates describing Legionnaires’ disease investigations involving each property. While SNHD stated the investigations are separate and unrelated, both matters involve the same public safety concern: Legionella bacteria can grow in large building water systems and, under certain conditions, spread to guests through inhalation of contaminated water mist.
For travelers, this can be especially alarming because Legionnaires’ disease often presents like the flu at first and then progresses into severe pneumonia—sometimes requiring hospitalization.
The Grandview (Las Vegas)
The Grandview is a Las Vegas casino hotel located at 9940 S. Las Vegas Blvd., Las Vegas, Nevada. SNHD publicly reported travel-associated cases connected to guest stays earlier in 2025. In its public guidance, SNHD advised certain guests to watch for symptoms within two weeks of a stay during the relevant time period and to seek medical care if symptoms developed.
If you stayed at The Grandview and later developed pneumonia or were diagnosed with Legionnaires’ disease, you may have important medical and legal decisions to make quickly.
South Point Hotel & Casino (Las Vegas)
South Point Hotel & Casino is a Las Vegas casino resort located at 9777 Las Vegas Blvd South, Las Vegas, Nevada. SNHD also issued public updates describing travel-associated cases connected to South Point stays and noted that environmental testing identified Legionella in the property’s water system.
Guests who develop symptoms after travel should not ignore pneumonia-like illness. Legionnaires’ disease can worsen quickly, and early medical attention matters.
Why Legionnaires’ disease can spread in large casino hotels
Legionnaires’ disease is caused by breathing in small droplets of water contaminated with Legionella bacteria. It is not spread person-to-person. Instead, outbreaks are typically linked to problems in a building’s water system.
Casino hotels and resorts can have increased exposure risk because they often have:
- Complex plumbing and hot water systems spanning multiple floors
- High guest turnover and periods of low-use water stagnation in certain rooms or lines
- Water-based amenities such as hot tubs, pools, misters, fountains, spas, and other features
- Equipment such as cooling towers that can aerosolize water
One of the most important prevention tools is a water management plan designed to control conditions that allow Legionella to grow and spread in building water systems. When property owners and operators fail to implement or follow effective Legionella control measures, guests get placed at serious risk.

Symptoms of Legionnaires’ disease
Legionnaires’ disease is a serious form of pneumonia. Symptoms can include:
- Cough
- Shortness of breath
- Fever
- Headache
- Muscle aches
- Fatigue
Symptoms often begin within days after exposure, and people are commonly advised to watch for symptoms for up to two weeks after a potential exposure. If you develop pneumonia-like illness after a hotel stay, tell your doctor where you traveled and ask whether Legionella testing is appropriate.
Who is at higher risk?
Some people are more likely to develop severe illness, including:
- Adults age 50 and older
- Current or former smokers
- People with chronic lung disease
- People with weakened immune systems
- People with certain underlying health conditions
What to do if you stayed at The Grandview or South Point and got sick
- Seek medical care immediately if you have pneumonia-like symptoms.
- Tell your health care provider about your hotel stay and the dates you traveled.
- Keep documentation: hotel receipts, confirmation emails, and your symptom timeline.
- Save medical records and bills related to diagnosis and treatment.
- Talk to an experienced Legionnaires’ disease lawyer before evidence disappears or deadlines run.
