Salmonella Symptoms

Eggs are a common source of Salmonella outbreaks. Sometimes illnesses are associated with restaurant meals.

Most people with a Salmonella infection experience diarrhea, fever, and stomach cramps that start six hours to six days after exposure. These symptoms usually last four to seven days. Sometimes the infection can migrate from the gastrointestinal tract to the bloodstream, causing severe illness.

Call your doctor if you develop a high fever, bloody diarrhea, dehydration, or symptoms lasting more than three days.

If You Got Sick

Get medical care and a stool test (culture/PCR), and ask for a copy of your lab results.

Report your illness to your local health department and contact a Salmonella lawyer to understand your legal options.

Preserve evidence: Keep egg cartons (with code CA‑7695), receipts, loyalty records, leftovers, and note where/when you ate egg dishes (restaurants, catered events).
