Ramsey’s Diner Salmonella Outbreak
LFCHD learned of a Salmonella outbreak on June 27, 2025. At least 10 illnesses from four counties have been confirmed: four in Fayette County, two in Jessamine County, two in Mercer County, one in Fleming County, and one in another state.
Ramsey’s operates four locations in Lexington.
- 151 West Zandale
- 3090 Helmsdale Drive
- 4391 Harrodsburg Road
- 112 Lucille Drive
During interviews with health officials, outbreak patients said they had eaten at least one meal at a Ramsey’s Diner location between June 17-20. Each of them had a custard-based pie topped with meringue or a cheesecake dessert.
Working with LFCHD, Ramsey’s and Missy’s Pies discarded all pies that were onsite after samples of pies and eggs were collected for testing. So far, no samples have tested positive for Salmonella. Eggs are frequently contaminated with Salmonella and improper handling, storage, or cooking can cause illness.
Missy’s and Ramsey’s sites have been cleaned and approved to reopen.
