Outbreak Prompts Salmonella Recall for Golden Yolk Brown Eggs

Golden yolk brown eggs, identified as the source of a multistate Salmonella outbreak, have been recalled. On August 27, Country Eggs of Lucerne Valley, CA, issued a recall for large, brown, cage-free eggs sold at grocery stores and to foodservice distributors.

The problem was discovered by California health officials investigating a Salmonella outbreak at Chubby Cattle restaurant in Los Angeles. The ongoing investigation includes Chubby Cattle locations in Little Tokyo and Rowland Heights. Illnesses associated with at least four restaurants are part of the outbreak, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
