At Pritzker Hageman, our commitment to helping injured people and their families extends across the country, and right home in Nevada. With a dedicated legal team based in Las Vegas, we’re proud to offer local representation backed by decades of national experience.
We’ve taken on some of the biggest companies in the country and secured life-changing recoveries for our clients. At a time when corporate interests continue to challenge the rights of injury victims in states like Nevada, having a skilled and trusted legal advocate by your side has never been more important.
In this Q&A, attorney Raymond Trueblood, who leads our Nevada Injury Legal Team, shares what Nevada locals and travelers need to know about taking legal action after a serious injury or wrongful death.

“I help people in Nevada not only get money to compensate them for injuries; I also help them get answers and justice.”
– RAYMOND TRUEBLOOD-KONZ, ATTORNEY AT PRITZKER HAGEMAN
Pritzker Hageman has a national reputation, but you’ve also planted roots in Las Vegas. How does your local presence help you advocate for injured people?
Ray: Lots of preventable accidents occur here in Las Vegas, particularly in hotels and casinos, which are central to the city’s economy and tourism. Hotel and casino injury cases are a big part of Pritzker Hageman’s practice in Nevada. We represent a lot of travelers who were injured while on vacation. Being local allows us to act quickly, whether it’s investigating the property, gathering evidence, or navigating the Nevada court system.
I have family members who spent their entire careers in the hospitality industry, which has given me a firsthand understanding of how hotels, casinos, and similar properties operate behind the scenes, from people management to daily operations and safety protocols.
When those systems break down due to poor training, inadequate maintenance, or lack of oversight, the consequences for guests can be serious. Understanding the scale and complexity of these properties helps me identify how and why breakdowns occur, not only in Las Vegas but at commercial properties nationwide.
What makes Pritzker Hageman different from other personal injury law firms in Las Vegas?
Ray: Las Vegas is known for its bold advertising, and the legal industry is no exception. You see a lot of flashy law firms there who use expensive suits, celebrities, and countless billboards to attract clients, but many of them are “churn and burn” firms that put quantity over quality. This means they’ll settle thousands of cases for far less than they’re worth just to move them quickly.
At Pritzker Hageman, we take a very different approach. Our attorneys intentionally take on fewer cases so we can take the time to build strong cases and fight for every dollar our clients deserve. Many local firms also don’t have experience beyond Nevada. Because we have a national practice, we bring a broader perspective that helps us secure stronger recoveries for our clients here in Las Vegas.
Why is a detailed investigation important in a Nevada personal injury case?
Ray: At Pritzker Hageman, many of the cases we handle involve catastrophic injury or wrongful death. These cases require a thorough investigation to uncover what went wrong and who is legally responsible. Serious harm is often caused by complex mechanical or equipment failures that could have been prevented or fixed before anyone got hurt.
Mechanical and engineering failures show up in more personal injury cases than most people realize. We see these issues in cases involving:
- Burn injuries and explosions caused by things like faulty appliances or poorly installed gas lines
- Legionnaires’ disease from hotel water systems that aren’t cleaned or maintained properly
- Food poisoning from unsafe food handling or contaminated ingredients
- Hotel assaults that happen because of broken or unsecured door locks
- Slip and fall accidents caused by hazards like dim lighting, worn-out floors, or missing warning signs
- Wrongful death cases where someone else’s negligence causes the loss of a loved one
My automotive background helps me approach personal injury cases with a root-cause mindset. For example, suppose a pedestrian is hit by a car on the strip. In that case, I methodically examine all the circumstances that led to the injury and identify the factors that caused and contributed to that injury. Without that methodical analysis, other lawyers might misinterpret what happened, ignore wrongdoing by others, or leave money on the table.
Why should I hire an experienced car accident lawyer after a crash in Nevada?
Ray: Last year was one of the deadliest years on Nevada roads, with hundreds of lives lost in car crashes. Unfortunately, we see firsthand how devastating these accidents can be and how difficult it can be for injury victims and families who’ve lost a loved one to get fair treatment from insurance companies.
I’ve been around cars my entire life. I started working in a local auto body shop at age 16 and stayed there for over a decade. I did everything from sweeping floors to rebuilding engines and customizing paint jobs. That’s also where I had my first run-ins with insurance companies. Even then, they were trying to cut corners and push cheap parts to save money at the consumer’s expense.
Not much has changed. Today, as a car accident lawyer, I deal with insurance companies that still put profits ahead of people. I call myself an “insurance prosecutor” because I hold insurers accountable when they try to underpay or deny valid claims. They collect premiums and do everything they can to avoid full payouts. If no one pushes back, they get away with it.
At Pritzker Hageman, we fight to make sure that doesn’t happen. We thoroughly investigate each case, work with top experts, and build strong claims so our clients get the compensation they deserve, not just what the insurance company wants to offer. Whether it’s a car crash on I-15 or a wrongful death case involving a commercial vehicle, we stand up for our clients every step of the way.
How does Nevada’s lack of participation in the State-to-State Verification System affect truck accident lawsuits?
Ray: Having lived in both Minnesota and Nevada, I understand how dangerous Nevada’s roads can be, especially when it comes to truck accidents. The combination of high-speed, multilane highways and a culture of risk-taking increases the risk of serious crashes. When a passenger vehicle weighing about 2,500 pounds is hit by a fully loaded semi-truck that can weigh up to 80,000 pounds, the results are often catastrophic, with life-altering injuries or fatalities.
The State-to-State Verification System allows states to share commercial driver history and identify dangerous drivers before they cross state lines and get behind the wheel. Nevada’s choice not to participate in the system creates a gap that could allow high-risk or unsafe truckers to slip through the cracks.
Even without that added layer of oversight, Pritzker Hageman’s Semi-Truck Accident Legal Team has a proven track record of holding trucking companies accountable for injuries and deaths, even when truckers evade monitoring and detection systems and drive illegally.
How does the Nevada Supreme Court’s rejection of contingency fee caps protect the rights of personal injury victims?
The Nevada Supreme Court did the right thing. Companies like Uber have faced serious allegations, including a disturbing pattern of sexual assaults involving their drivers. Rather than addressing the problem to protect riders, Uber backed a ballot initiative that would have made it harder for survivors and other injury victims to access legal representation.
It was a thinly veiled effort to weaken the ability of personal injury lawyers to hold powerful corporations accountable. Capping contingency fees would have disproportionately harmed victims by limiting their ability to find qualified counsel. The Court saw through the real intent behind the proposal and rejected it, preserving a critical path to justice for those who need it most.
