A fatal crash involving a semi-truck and a pickup truck occurred on a section of Highway 63 North of Rochester, MN just before 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, March 26th. The driver of the pickup truck, 83 year old John Warren Johnson from Plainview, tragically lost his life after his vehicle was struck by the semi.
The State Highway Patrol reports that the semi-truck, driven by an unnamed 17-year old from Lake City, was hauling a load of corn and traveling southbound on Highway 63, as Mr. Johnson was traveling westbound on County Road 21. The two vehicles collided at the intersection of the two roads. Additional information regarding the circumstances of the accident are pending a Highway Patrol investigation.
An SUV was also struck by debris from the accident. Reports indicate that the driver and passenger in the SUV were not injured in the accident.
The crash report indicates that the road conditions were dry at the time of the collision.
