Pompano Beach Gas Explosion, One Person Hospitalized

One person suffered serious burns and was hospitalized after a May 10 explosion at a Pompano Beach, FL shopping plaza. Fire officials said they had received a call several days earlier about a gas leak at the shopping center, located in the 1400 block of Atlantic Boulevard, and were able to cap it.

After fire crews arrived at the scene yesterday, they evacuated the area and were able to cut off the gas to the property. They did not provide information about the new gas leak.  An investigation is underway.
