Natural Gas Pipeline Explosion in Texas Kills 2, Injures 3

A natural gas pipeline explosion at an Atmos Energy facility in Texas killed two people and injured three. The deadly explosion happened at about 4 p.m. on Monday in an unincorporated area of Collin County near Farmersville, which is about 35 miles northeast of Dallas.

The people injured and killed in the explosion were employed by Bobcat Contracting and Fesco Petroleum Engineering to work as contractors for Atmos Energy. The Farmersville Police Chief told WFAA-TV that the workers were servicing a gas line at the time of the explosion. Two of the three burn survivors were hospitalized for burn injuries. Atmos Energy published a statement that the names of the workers would not be released at this time out of respect for their privacy. An investigation into the cause of the gas line explosion is ongoing.

Explosion Lawyers Investigate Deadly Risk Posed by Gas Pipelines

Our team of gas explosion lawyers has seen far too many horrific explosions where pipelines have erupted, leaving behind a wake of devastation and destruction. After reviewing federal data, our explosion investigative team found a high risk for catastrophic gas explosions in states with outdated pipeline systems. Gas companies that continue to prolong the replacement timeline for aging iron pipelines put people’s lives in danger. Attorney Fred Pritzker says, “Gas companies are playing roulette with the lives of the public. Too many operators are dragging their feet on pipeline replacement programs.”

Fred Pritzker and Eric Hageman, who lead our explosion lawyer team, recently appeared on WCCO-TV to call for increased transparency and a better reporting system from gas companies so people can take action to protect themselves and their families.

“These explosions create instant zones of death. Natural gas companies are morally complicit in every failure.”
