Muffins Recalled for Listeria at Walmart, Costco, Stop n Shop, 7 Eleven

Muffins sold under a variety of brand names at Walmart, Costco, Stop n Shop, and 7-Eleven stores are being recalled for Listeria. Brand names included in the muffin Listeria recall issued July 19 by Give and Go Prepared Foods Corp. of Ontario include Uncle Wally’s, The Worthy Crumb, Stop n Shop, 7-Eleven, Freshness Guaranteed, Great Value, and Marketside.

At the time of the recall, the company said it was not aware of any illnesses associated with these products. However, consumers who have purchased these muffins should not eat them as Listeria can cause serious illness and death. Among pregnant women, Listeria can cause miscarriage and stillbirth.

Symptoms of a Listeria infection usually appear about two weeks after exposure to the contaminated food, but sometimes they can take as long as 70 days to develop. They include high fever, stiff neck, severe headache, muscle aches, nausea, abdominal pain, and diarrhea.
