Fountain Inn House Explosion Injures 1 in South Carolina

A house explosion in Fountain Inn, South Carolina yesterday morning left one man seriously injured. Kenneth Rhodes was airlifted to an area hospital for treatment of burns and other injuries.

Cheryl Nimmons and Kenneth Rhodes were the only two people inside the home when the blast occurred around 7:15 a.m. A massive fire followed the explosion. Nimmons told 7News that she was in bed when the explosion occurred and smoke started pouring into the room. She said she got down on the floor and crawled to safety.

Fountain Inn is located about 20 miles southeast of Greenville. The house, which was completely destroyed by the explosion and fire, was located in the Sprouse Farm Subdivision. Fire officials have not yet determined the source of the blast. An investigation is underway.
