A boat explosion on Cheat Lake in Mongolia County injured seven people on Sunday. At the time of the explosion, the boat’s operator tired to start the engine after refueling at Edgewater Marina. Investigators say that the ignition source was likely a spark from the boat’s starter. Seven of the eight people on board suffered burn injuries. Two of the victims were airlifted to West Penn Burn Center in Pittsburgh. The remaining five were taken to Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown.
