Huntingdon, PA House Explosion Injures 1

Michelle Shovlens was hospitalized after she suffered severe burn injuries when her Huntingdon, PA home exploded yesterday morning. Neighbors who heard the blast at around 8:30 a.m. looked outside to see Shovlens’ house, located at 2312 Highland Ave., reduced to a pile of rubble and the neighboring home on fire. When they ran to help, they heard Michelle’s voice coming from the basement and were pulling her out when emergency crews arrived. She was transported to UPMC for treatment of burn injuries.

Fire officials are still investigating what may have caused the explosion. The homes in that neighborhood are not connected to natural gas. And a neighbor told WTAJ that he found the home’s propane tanks intact and full.
