A gas leak is the suspected source of a house explosion near Eau Claire, Wi that left one person dead and another badly injured. Emergency responders from Chippewa County responded to the scene on County Line Road just after 11:00 a.m. this morning and transported the injured person to an area hospital.

Residents of the area just north of the city told WQOW that the sound of the explosion could be heard from miles away. Emergency responders closed Highway F (Jeffers Road) and County Line Road (10th Ave.) as they worked to determine the cause of the blast that completely destroyed the home.
