Cheese dips sold in the deli departments at Kroger, Fred Meyer. Fry’s and Smith’s stores are being recalled because they were made with onions that have been recalled for Salmonella in conjunction with a multistate outbreak that has sickened more than 700 people in the U.S. and Canada. The cheese dip Salmonella recall includes dozens of products such as Jalapeno Dip, Jarlsberg Dip, Smoked Gouda Dip and Buffalo Blue Cheese Spread sold between May 15, 2020 and August 6, 2020.

Each of these store recalls stated that the retailers were not aware of any confirmed cases of Salmonella infections associated with these products. However, these recalled products should not be consumed as Salmonella can cause serious illness and death.

An onion Salmonella outbreak included 640 people in 43 states on August 7, 2020 when the numbers were last updated by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Eighty-five people have been hospitalized.
