Brooklyn Park School Bus Involved in Fatal Hit and Run Crash

A woman died after being struck by a hit-and-run school bus driver in Brooklyn Park, MN on Monday. The crash happened at about 6:49 AM at Humboldt Avenue and Meadowwood Drive. The Brooklyn Park PD received a report of a female victim down in the street. By the time the police arrived, the victim, who has been identified as Devon Lizbeth Doherty (45), died from her injuries.

Police say that Jason Rynders (33), who was driving for Northstar Bus Lines, did not stop at the scene. A witness told the police that he yelled at Rynders to call 911, but instead, the driver left.

Rynders was arrested and charged with criminal vehicular homicide. At the time of the crash, the bus had been headed to Friendship Academy, a Minneapolis charter elementary school. Police say no children were hurt.
