Tour Bus Crash on MN Highway Injures At Least 8

A crash involving two tour buses injured at least eight people near the Minnesota State Fairgrounds on Thursday. The crash happened on Hwy. 280 where E. Hennepin Ave. turns into Larpenteur Ave. An empty bus operated by Lorenz Bus Service and driven by Carol Marie Hanson (66) of East Bethel, veered off the highway entrance ramp from westbound Larpenteur Ave, went through a ditch, and crashed into a second bus traveling southbound on Hwy. 280. The second bus, operated by Andy’s Charter Service and driven by Carrie Ann Gasperlin (58) of Cushing, was carrying 50 passengers from Little Falls to the Minnesota State Fair.

Emergency responders took both drivers to HCMC after freeing them from the wreckage. Both drivers sustained injuries described as serious.
