Former Concordia College Quarterback Critically Injured In Fish House Gas Explosion In Moorhead

A Minnesota man suffered severe burn injuries from a fish house gas explosion in Moorhead. The gas explosion occurred around 8:00 AM on Sunday, March 17th, 2019. Moorhead residents called 911 after hearing the explosion in a nearby parking lot. Fire crews found Michael Herzog outside his fish house when they arrived to put out the fire. Herzog was rushed to Sanford Medical Center in Fargo before being airlifted to Regions Hospital in St. Paul, MN.

A star athlete from Detroit Lakes, Herzog graduated from Concordia College where he played on the football team as a Quarterback. His family created a CaringBridge page where his sister-in-law Brooke Herzog wrote, “We are so thankful that Michael is alive… It is truly a miracle.”
