How to Get Compensation After a Semi-Truck Accident
The first step to getting compensation for costs and pain and suffering after an accident is contacting a lawyer, who will take legal action to gather evidence that can be used to negotiate a settlement and, if necessary, to file a lawsuit.
It is common for insurance companies to try to get in touch with accident victims to get them to accept a “payout” right after a crash. This is almost always a bad idea because the job of big insurance companies is to pay as little as possible. Hiring a lawyer who will speak to insurance companies on your behalf, shows the trucking companies that you are serious about being fully compensated for your injuries.
Are There Special Truck Accident Lawyers?
The lawyer you choose to hire can have a large impact on the size of the settlement or verdict you get after an accident. The personal injury lawyer you hire should have experience winning verdicts or large settlements for cases that are just like yours.
These cases require the knowledge of state and interstate trucking laws as well as the know-how to negotiate or file cases against large companies that usually have teams of in-house lawyers to protect their interests.
Can the lawyer you hire go toe-to-toe with these companies?
