Minnesota Man Seriously Injured in FL Semi Crash

A 38-year-old woman was killed and four others were seriously injured in a terrible semi tractor-trailer crash in Florida on May 16, 2016. The accident took place in Fort Myers, near the intersection of Winkler Road and Summerlin road at 3:52 p.m. Charges are pending as the Florida state patrol investigates the accident.

A semi truck, driven by a 43-year-old man from North Fort Myers, rear ended a 1998 Lincoln town car in front of it when traffic started to slow on Summerlin Road. That caused a chain reaction and the town car burst into flames. The driver of that car, a 70-year-old man from Fort Myers, and its passenger, a 34-year-old man from Minnesota were critically injured and taken to Tampa Regional Hospital. A passenger from Iowa, who was riding in the back seat of that car, tragically died at the scene.

The driver and passenger in the 2016 Toyota Camry were also hurt. They were taken to Health Partners Hospital in serious condition. And in the 2005 Honda Odyssey in front of that one, an 84-year-old man from Fort Myers was taken to the same hospital in serious condition. Four other people and the semi driver had minor injuries.
