Two people have died in a crash between a car and a semi at US 301 and 63rd Avenue East near Bradenton in Manatee County on February 3, 2016. Northbound and southbound lanes of US 301 were closed for hours while state troopers investigated the crash.
Those killed were in the 2005 Infiniti. According to police, a 29-year-old from Palmett and a 25-year-old from Sarasota were killed at the scene. The driver of the semi, which was hauling tandem trailers, was not injured. According to news reports, the car did not stop at a red light while the semi was making a left turn with a green arrow. The car went under the trailer, crossed the center median, and went off the road.
