Propane Heater Explosion Leaves Clinton, UT Family of 5 With Serious Burns

A camping trip for a family of five from Clinton, UT took a tragic turn Sunday when a propane heater exploded injuring all of them. The family members, who range in age from 7 to 40, all received first- to third-degree burns to their faces and extremities. Three of them were airlifted to the University of Utah burn center, one was transported there by ambulance, the remaining family member was treated and released at the scene.

The family was camping in a cargo trailer near Fish Lake, UT. On Sunday morning, the father struck the igniter on the propane heater and the trailer burst into flames. Fire investigators found a coupling to a propane bottle hose was leaking.
