Propane Grill Explosion Hospitalizes Maui Man

A propane tank on a grill exploded injuring a man who is in critical condition in a Maui, HI hospital. The man was on the second-story lanai near the grill when it exploded. Another resident of the home used a fire extinguisher to try to put out the blaze, but flames continued shoot from the propane canister.

The 73-year-old man suffered burns to his arms and face and was taken to Maui Memorial Medical Center. He was later airlifted to  Queen’s Hospital for further treatment.

Wailea fire crews responded to the scene just after 1 p.m. on Saturday, October 29. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
