Holding a Commercial Truck Driver Responsible

When a driver gets behind the wheel of a semi-truck trailer, school bus, or delivery van, they are taking control a vehicle that is heavier, more difficult to control, and harder to navigate than the average car. Reckless and careless actions and risks taken by these drivers have an increased effect on the cars and motorcycles they are supposed to be sharing the road with.

In a recent case, a preliminary accident report by the Minnesota State Patrol listed our client as responsible for an accident where she fell off a her bike and was run over by the back wheels of a right-turning semi truck. Our independent investigation led us down various paths, which produced evidence that the truck driver had not known the length of his trailer or checked his mirror before turning. We hired accident reconstruction specialists and animationists to create a video showing the accident. This video and the evidence found during our investigation led to a $2.4 million verdict for our clients.

Below is a summation of the case and the video used by Eric Hageman.
