Police Officer Killed in Semi Accident

A 48-year-old police officer was killed on January 15, 2016 when his Jeep collided with a semi truck about 2:50 am. The accident occurred on southbound I-75 just north of Maple Road. The officer was alone in the Jeep at the time of the accident.

The police officer leaves behind a wife and five young children.

The semi truck was southbound on the freeway when it was hit from behind by the Jeep. The driver of the semi was not hurt. Police are investigating the accident.

There could be many factors that led to this accident. Since truck drivers, the vehicle, and the entire industry are heavily regulated, there are many laws they must follow that passenger drivers do not know about.

Even though this was a rear-end collision, the semi truck driver may have been at fault. And a trucking company, the company that owns the freight, and the company that maintains the vehicles may be sued in these types of accidents. Their attorneys are working to protect the corporations’ interests and minimize any amount that may be due to your family.
