Manhattan High-Rise Fire Injures 21

A fire in a high-rise on the Upper West Side of Manhattan has injured 21 people. Among those injured are four firefighters and 17 residents including a 7-year-old girl who was found in cardiac arrest on the 21st floor. Firefighters revived her and she is now said to be in good condition.

Fire crews were called to the blaze at 515 West 59th St., near 10th Ave., at about 5 p.m. Officials have not yet determined what started the fire, but they know it began on the third floor.

Six of those who were hospitalized are fighting serious injuries, two of them are listed in critical condition. They are likely to have suffered smoke inhalation and burns.
