Woman Killed After Semi Runs Red Light

A woman died following a crash with a semi trailer truck and another vehicle on Saturday, February 13, 2016. The accident happened about 11:00 am a few miles south of K-113.

Her 2014 Chevrolet Captiva Sport was traveling east and approached the intersection of Marlatt and Tuttle Creek in Riley County. A 1997 Kenworth semi pulling a pace trailer, southbound on Tuttle Creek, approached the same intersection. The Captiva Sport had a green light and was going through the intersection when the semi ran a red light and struck her car. The car then went into the northbound lanes and struck a Chevrolet Silverado that was stopped on Tuttle Creek for the red light.

The driver of the Captiva,a  30-year-old  woman, was taken to Via Christi Hospital in Manhattan and then flown to Topeka. She died on Sunday, February 14, 2016. The driver of the semi was not injured, and the driver of the Silverado received minor injuries. All three people in the accident were wearing seatbelts.
