Ice Shack Explosion Severely Burns White Bear Lake, MN, Man

An 18-year-old from White Bear Lake, Minnesota, was severely burned when his ice shack exploded on Friday.

Burn treatments are extremely expensive. There is a Go Fund Me page set up for those who want to help pay medical expenses for Macen Ellering, whose face and hands were badly burned. He has been receiving treatment at the Regions Hospital Burn Center, an exceptional burn treatment center here in the Twin Cities.

According to news reports, Macen Ellering went into his ice shack, which was sitting in his driveway, to warm up. He turned on the propane and then turned on the furnace. As soon as the furnace ignited, the inside of the shack burst into flames. He suffered second and third-degree burns, and his step father rushed him to the hospital.

The cause of the explosion is not yet known, but the ice shack was serviced for furnace problems in February.
