Yesterday, a suspected distracted driver hit and killed a New Prague man who was crossing the road to get his morning newspaper. He was a beloved bus driver for the New Prague School District.
According to the Le Sueur County Sheriff’s Office, the driver of the van that hit him was distracted at the time of the accident, but no details were provided. The driver stayed at the scene and has not been charged.
This is a tragedy for so many, and our thoughts are with the family.
Don’t Drive Distracted!
We are seeing more and more cases where an at-fault driver was texting, talking on a cell phone or otherwise driving while distracted. - If someone waits to answer your call or text until he or she is no longer driving, thank them.
- Always think about the safety of others and don’t let anything distract you when you are behind the wheel.
