Inventure Foods Recalls Smoothie Blend and Fusion Products

Due to the risk of contamination with Listeria monocytogenes, Inventure Foods, Inc. of Phoenix, Arizona, issued a precautionary recall of the following RADER FARMS® brand products:

  • Fresh Start Smoothie Blend
  • Fresh Start Sunrise Refresh Fusion
  • Fresh Start Daily Power Fusion.

Listeria Found on Spinach and Kale Ingredients

The recalled RADER FARMS products did not test positive for Listeria monocytogenes.  However, the bacteria was detected on spinach and/or kale ingredients on another lot, which the company placed on hold and did not distribute.  The potentially tainted spinach and kale ingredients used to manufacture the recalled blends were supplied by the same supplier, an outside party.

To date, Inventure Foods has not had reports of Listeria infections (listeriosis) linked to eating Rader Farms Fresh Start Blends. However, the incubation period for Listeria can be as long as 70 days. This means it can take that long for someone to get sick after eating food contaminated with the bacteria.
