Amy’s Kitchen Recall Due to Listeria Risk

Amy’s Kitchen, Inc. issued a recall of about 73,897 cases of select code dates and manufacturing codes of certain products (listed on the FDA website). The company issued the recall when it got a notice from one of its spinach suppliers that Amy’s may have received organic spinach with the possible presence of Listeria monocytogenes, a dangerous pathogen that can cause invasive listeriosis, an illness that often causes meningitis. The elderly, people with compromised immune systems, pregnant women and babies are most at risk.

There are no reports of illness from any of the recalled products. However, the incubation period for listeriosis is up to 70 days, there may be illnesses reported at a future date.
