The CDC recently announced that these illnesses are connected to a multi-state E.coli outbreak that has expanded to include 17 illnesses in eight states (AZ, CA, CO, ID, MD, MT, WA, and WI).
Our national E.coli legal team, led by attorneys Fred Pritzker and Eric Hageman, has been retained by four people with confirmed E.coli O157 infections in Wisconsin, including a 14-year-old victim with hemolytic uremic syndrome (HUS), which is a form of kidney failure that can turn fatal.

E.coli Outbreak Possibly Linked to Lettuce Continues to Grow
On November 20th, the CDC announced that an E.coli outbreak, most likely linked to romaine lettuce, has expanded to include 17 illnesses in eight states. Seven people have been hospitalized, including two people with HUS. Illnesses started on dates ranging from September 24th to November 8th. People sickened in Maryland reported eating Ready Pac Bistro Bowl Chicken Caesar Salads. The Maryland Department of Health collected an unopened package of Ready Pac Chicken Caesar Salad with the establishment number “EST. 18502B,” from a sick person’s home – the romaine lettuce in the salad tested positive for E.coli O157:H7. Soon after the CDC’s announcement of the E.coli outbreak, the USDA posted a recall for Missa Bay salad bowls because of possible E.coli contamination in the lettuce. The recalled salad bowls have the same establishment number (“EST. 18502B”) as the Ready Pac Chicken Caesar Salad that tested positive for E.coli. All products made with this same lot of lettuce have now been recalled. The Missa Bay recall spans 22 states and includes products sold at Giant Eagle, Target, Aldi, Walmart, Sam’s Club, Albertsons, Safeway, Vons, and Domino’s Pizza.
