Amite County House Explosion Injures One, Propane Leak Suspected

A house explosion in Amite County, Mississippi, on September  severely injured an 81-year-old man. The explosion happened when he was lighting his stove, his son-in-law told WJTV news1.

The explosion at 5688 Burris Road occurred on Saturday, September 4, 2016, at about 7:25 a.m. First responders found a man under debris. According to news reports, his head and arms were burned, and there was a concern that he may have smoke inhalation injuries. He was taken to the regional burn center in Jacksonville.

The Mississippi Fire Marshal’s office is investigating. At this time, a propane leak is the suspected source of the explosion.
