Fuetes Farm of McAllen, Texas, has issued a Salmonella recall for cucumbers sold at flea markets. Consumers who purchased cucumbers at flea markets in the McAllen and Alamo areas should not eat them.

The affected product has the following information:

  • Fuentes Farm Label
  • Lot number 357
  • Boxes are 40 lbs 1-1/9-bushel boxes, which read vegetables and have a black background
  • Sold May 31 -June 3

The problem was discovered through a routine testing program.

Salmonella Symptoms

Symptoms of a Salmonella infection usually develop six to 72 hours after eating contaminated food. They include:

  • Fever
  • Diarrhea (which may be bloody)
  • Nausea
  • Vomiting
  • Abdominal pain

In some cases, the infection can travel to the bloodstream, causing more severe illnesses. At the time of the recall, the company was not aware of any illnesses.
