Face Rock cheese curds sold at Trader Joe’s stores in Northern California and Northern Nevada have been recalled for Listeria. Consumers who purchased these products shouldn’t eat them because Listeria can cause severe illness and death. Among pregnant women, Listeria can cause miscarriage, stillbirth, or premature delivery of an infected newborn.

Face Rock Creamery of Bandon, OR, issued the recall on June 20 after discovering through routine testing that two lots of Vampire Slayer Garlic Cheddar Curds tested positive for Listeria. The recall includes:

- Sold at Trader Joe’s stores in Northern California and Northern Nevada.
Symptoms of a Listeria Infection
Symptoms of a Listeria infection usually appear within 24 hours of eating contaminated food, but can sometimes take as long as 10 weeks to develop. They include:
- Severe headache
- Stiff neck
- High fever
- Other muscle stiffness
- Nausea
- Abdominal pain
- Diarrhea
- Loss of balance, confusion, convulsions.
Pregnant women can suffer a miscarriage or stillbirth even if they only experience mild flu-like symptoms.
