Updated November 22 with recall expansion and link to outbreak A deadly Listeria outbreak has triggered a nationwide recall of Yu Shang Food ready-to-eat meat and poultry products. Consumers who have purchased these products should not eat them as Listeria can cause severe illness and death. Among pregnant women, Listeria can cause miscarriage, stillbirth and live birth of infected newborns.
The outbreak includes 11 illnesses. One pregnant patient lost both twins.
Yu Shang Listeria Recall
The recalled products were sold nationwide. The problem was discovered through routine testing by the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (USDA FSIS).
The expanded recall includes all products produced before October 28, 2024. The establishment number “P-46684” or “EST. M46684” appears inside the USDA mark of inspection.

- Seasoned Pork Feet
- Seasoned Pork Hock
- Chinese Brand Spicy Duck Head
- Yushang Brand Cooked Chicken
- Chinese Brand Spicy Duck Neck
- Bazhen Seasoned Whole Chicken
- Chinese Brand Spicy Duck Tongues
- Chinese Brand Spicy Duck Wings
- Chinese Brand Chicken Feet
- Yushang Sausage Made with Pork and Chicken
- Seasoned Pork Tongues
- Seasoned Chicken Quarter Leg
- Braised Beef Shank
- Braised Chicken Szechuan Pepper Flavor
- Yu Shang Brand Cooked Pork Hock
- Seasoned Pork Snout Meat
- Spicy Pork Ear
- Spicy Chicken Gizzards
- Spicy Pork Feet
- Lambs Head Soup (frozen)

Listeria Symptoms
Symptoms of a Listeria infection usually appear within 24 hours of exposure but can sometimes take as long as 70 days to develop. They include:
- Severe headache
- Stiff neck
- High fever
- Muscle stiffness
- Nausea
- Abdominal pain
- Diarrhea
Pregnant women can suffer a miscarriage or stillbirth even if they only experience mild flu-like symptoms.
