Valley Meats Ground Beef E. coli Recall

Valley Meats has issued a ground beef E. coli recall for ground beef and ground beef patties distributed to restaurants and other institutional clients. Companies that have received these products should not use them as E. coli can cause serious illness and death.

Symptoms of an E. coli infection usually develop within one to three days of exposure. They include abdominal cramps and diarrhea that can be bloody. In its recall notice, the company stated it was not aware of any illnesses associated with the product.

The recall includes 12-lb, 13.5-lb, 16-lb, 20-lb, 24-lb, 28-lb, and 40-lb boxes of Angus ground beef patties, ground beef patties and ground beef. The products were produced on December 22, 2023, and sent to distributors in Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, and Michigan for further distribution. The establishment number “EST. 5712” appears inside the USDA mark of inspection.

The problem was discovered by a third-party laboratory that found E. coli O157:H7 in samples tested.
