Victor, Wayne Feeds, Eagle Mountain and Members Mark (Sam’s Club) Dog and Cat Food Salmonella Recall Expands

Updated November 9th, 2023 with additional recalled products

Victor brand dog and cat food has been recalled for Salmonella. Contaminated pet food can cause illness in pets who consume it and humans who handle it. Consumers who have purchased this dog food should not use it.

Mid America Pet Food of Mount Pleasant, Texas issued the original pet food recall on October 30th after product testing conducted by a third party revealed the presence of Salmonella. The original recall included only Victor brand dog food, but the recall was expanded to include additional products and brands as well as cat food on November 9th. These brands include: Victor, Wayne Feeds, Eagle Mountain and Members Mark (Sam’s Club).

At this time at least seven people have been identified as having been sickened by these products.

Symptoms of a Salmonella Infection

If you purchased any of the recalled products and fed it to your dog or cat, watch yourself and your pet for the following symptoms:

A dog or cat with a Salmonella infection may be lethargic, feverish, or have diarrhea that may be bloody. Some pets may just have decreased appetite, fever, and abdominal pain, others may have no symptoms at all. Regardless of which symptoms they experience, pets with Salmonella infections can be carriers and infect humans and other animals. 

People with Salmonella infections may experience, fever, nausea, abdominal cramps, and diarrhea that can be bloody. Consumers who develop these symptoms after handling the dog food should seek medical attention immediately.
