Supermom’s Salads Recalled for Listeria

Supermom’s chef salads and Caesar salads sold at retail stores in Minnesota and Wisconsin are being recalled for Listeria risk. Northern Tier Bakery of St. Paul Park, MN issued the Listeria recall of 905 pounds of salad on June 9, 2022.

Consumers who have purchased these products should not eat them as Listeria can cause serious illness and death. Among pregnant women, Listeria can cause miscarriage and stillbirth. At the time of the recall, the company was unaware of any confirmed illnesses.

The recall includes two salads sold in plastic packages.

• “SUPERMOM’S KITCHEN Chef Salad EGG, WHITE TURKEY MEAT, HAM, MONTEREY JACK & CHEDDAR CHEESE WITH CRISP ROMAINE & GREEN LEAF LETTUCE” in 4-oz. packages with “ENJOY THROUGH” dates of 6/9 and 6/11. 
• “SUPERMOM’S KITCHEN Caesar Salad SEASONED CHICKEN BREAST STRIPS, PARMESAN CHEESE & CROUTON PACKET WITH CRISP ROMAINE & GREEN LEAF LETTUCE” in 4.3 -oz. packages with “ENJOY THROUGH” dates of 5/26, 5/28, 5/31, 6/2, 6/4, 6/8, 6/9, 6/11, 6/14, and 6/16.

Listeria Symptoms

Symptoms of a Listeria infection, called listeriosis, can take as long as 70 days to develop. They include high fever, severe headache, stiff neck, other muscle stiffness, confusion, loss of balance, and convulsions. Sometimes these symptoms are preceded by gastrointestinal symptoms including nausea, abdominal pain, and diarrhea.
