The Pritzker Hageman product liability lawyers filed a recall lawsuit on behalf of a man who was injured by a defective archery product. Our client suffered permanent eye damage after using a defective hanging bow scale that he purchased on Amazon from October Mountain Products (OMP). After following OMP’s instructions for using the bow scale to test the draw strength of a bow, the mounting ring split open and flew off the product, striking our client in the face and left eye. This sent a shock wave through our client’s left eye, dislocating the lens, and causing permanent injuries.
Attorney Raymond Trueblood-Konz says, “When a manufacturer, importer, or retailer finds out that one of its products is unsafe, it should do everything it can to ensure its unsafe product doesn’t hurt or kill someone. That’s not what happened here.”
October Mountain Bow Scale Recall
After receiving several reports of injuries due to the mounting ring on the scale breaking, October Mountain Products issued a recall for M-100 hanging bow scales in June 2016. The recalled bow scales were sold between November 2015 and March 2016 at the following retailers:
- Gander Mountain
- Gun World
- Archery Shop
Amazon sold the defective bow scale to our client after it became clear that the product was dangerous.
