Just Egg Recall – Chopped Spring Greens Pose Listeria Risk

JUST Egg Chopped Spring Greens products have been recalled for Listeria risk. On July 21, Eat Just, Inc. issued a recall for a limited number of these products sold in five states: Arizona, California, Oklahoma, Louisiana, and Texas.

Listeria can cause serious illness and death. Among pregnant women, Listeria can cause miscarriage and stillbirth. Symptoms of listeriosis include high fever, severe headache, stiff neck, other muscle stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain, and diarrhea. Sometimes these symptoms appear within one or two days of exposure to contaminated food. And sometimes it can take as long as 70 days for symptoms of a Listeria infection to develop.

Before it was released into commerce, Eat Just tested the recalled product for bacteria and it was negative for Listeria. But a different lot, that shares ingredients with the recalled lot, tested positive and was not released. After the company discovered that both lots were made with some of the same ingredients, it issued a recall.

At the time of the recall, 21 customers had received the product and no illnesses had been reported.

The recall includes:

  • Just Egg Spring Green Flavor – Chopped Egg and Vegetables
  • 6 x 12 oz packages
  • Case code 1 91011 00101 5
  • UPC 1 91011 00101 5
  • “Use by” dates: JUN 10 2023 1612, JUN 29 2023 1802, JUN 30 2023 1812
