Giant Food Smoked Salmon Listeria Recall

Giant store brand smoked salmon is being recalled for potential Listeria contamination. The recalled product was sold at Giant stores in Maryland, Virginia, Washington DC, and Delaware. Consumers who have purchased this product should not eat it as Listeria can cause serious illness and death. Among pregnant women, Listeria can cause miscarriage and stillbirth.

Symptoms of a Listeria infection include high fever, stiff neck, severe headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain, and diarrhea. These symptoms can set in within one day of exposure but it can also take as long as 70 days for them to develop. Pregnant women can suffer a miscarriage or stillbirth even if they only experience mild flu-like symptoms.
